This tour takes in the drama and excitement of the Snake Boat Races as well as many of the highlights of southern India.On the great waterways of Kerala, fierce boat races erupt in a dramatic spectacle as tens of thousands of people cheer the action and lay bets as they goad the boatmen to row faster. The graceful black boats, once decorated with glittering gold ornaments and the coat of arms of a prince or chief, are up to a hundred feet in length, accommodating 100-150 people. Both ends of a snake boat curl out of the water, the towering sterns shaped like menacing cobra hoods.
