Named after Annapurna, the Goddess of Plenty, the hotel is located close to the Royal Palace. The hotel is also walking distance from the city's shopping centers..
From the outside, this 1960s-era building fails to inspire, but the inside is stunning. The luxurious dark-wood lobbies, lounges, and bars, are all designed with fanciful ceilings, intricate woodcarvings, marble fountains, and huge chandeliers. Most of the sitting areas look out onto one of the city's largest swimming pools. The rooms are a bit garish, in a Rana-era, almost Victorian way, with intricate cornices, gilded wall fixtures, and blond furnishings. The cushioned bedroom window seats are soft and comfortable -- they seem to beg for you to kick back and rest. 156 rooms, 71 standard, 81 deluxe, 3 suites, 1 deluxe suite. In-hotel: 2 restaurants, bar, tennis courts, pool, gym. AE, DC, MC, V.
